The Cubs had lost two in a row and not looked good doing it completing their most recent homestand.
That’s why their offensive explosion against the Pirates Tuesday evening was especially nice to see. Cubs batters hit four home runs, part of a 13-hit attack, and shut out the Pirates 9-0 in the first of a six-game road trip.
Some big storms blew through the Pittsburgh area in the late afternoon, delaying the start of the game about 20 minutes.
