Ryan Helsley Joins Orioles on 2-Year, $28M Deal

Former Cardinals closer Ryan Helsley was among the relievers in whom the Cubs were reportedly interested, but he is now off the market. The Orioles, who will be without Felix Bautista for at least several months of the 2026 season, signed Helsley to a two-year, $28 million deal that allows him to opt out after the first year. If he’s able to recapture his form, he could end up back on the market with a chance to make even more.

The Tigers and other teams were reportedly interested in Helsley as a starter, something we’ve seen with several other successful relievers in recent seasons, but that doesn’t appear to be the Orioles’ plan.
