It was only fitting that Rich Hill would make history Tuesday at Wrigley Field, the same venue as his major-league debut as a Cub 20 years ago.
Hill, 45, made his Royals debut on Tuesday, matching Edwin Jackson’s major-league record of 14 franchises played for. Appearing in his 21st major-league season, Hill leads active pitchers in that category. He became the oldest player in Royals history.
“He’s creative, is probably the best way to say it,” Cubs manager Craig Counsell said. “He’s reading swings, and he’s looking for deception, and he’s trying to find all those little advantages he can – play on the hitter’s aggression, use it against him.
