Pair-rieta: 2nd no-no puts Cub in historic club

CINCINNATI -- Jake Arrieta did it again.

The reigning National League Cy Young winner threw his second career no-hitter on Thursday night, shutting down the Reds in a 16-0 Cubs victory. Arrieta had plenty of help. Kris Bryant matched a career high with six RBIs, hitting two home runs, including his third career grand slam.

Bryant's blasts were two of five home runs by the Cubs, but the night belonged to Arrieta, who threw his first career no-hitter nine starts ago on Aug. 30 at Dodger Stadium. No Cubs pitcher has ever thrown no-hitters in consecutive seasons, but he is the third pitcher to throw multiple no-no's, joining Ken Holtzman and Larry Corcoran.
