Major League Baseball announced the rosters for the All-Star Futures Game Monday and two Cubs, Owen Caissie and Jaxon Wiggins, will represent the team in this annual contest.
Through Sunday, Caissie is batting .263/.372/.504 for the Triple-A Iowa Cubs, with 18 doubles and 12 home runs in 65 games. Caissie, who turns 23 next week, has played mostly right field for the I-Cubs this year.
Wiggins has made 13 appearances (12 starts) combined this year between High-A South Bend and Double-A Knoxville. He has a 2.09 ERA, 0.994 WHIP and 74 strikeouts in 60u2153 innings. It’s entirely possible Wiggins could be promoted to Iowa sometime later this year.
