- The Orioles fired manager Brandon Hyde after a 15-28 start. Third-base coach Tony Mansolino takes over on an interim basis. And the Orioles promptly lost two more games.
- Several O’s players stuck up for their former manager.
- So did Hall of Famer and Orioles broadcaster Jim Palmer, although Palmer did say he agreed with the decision to fire Hyde.
- Gabe Lacques believes that Hyde is the fall guy for the failures of the front office and that the “tanking” strategy doesn’t work anymore.
