No, the Cubs did not lose a home date in the 1984 NLCS. Here’s the truth.

EDITOR’S NOTE: Yesterday, in the Cub Tracks comments, BCB reader Oremus mentioned the 1984 postseason and made this statement:

Then the whole “no lights” thing came along, threatening to move all of the games from Wrigley, to St Louis (of all places). And finally the compromise, in which game 5 was played in San Diego, even though the Cubs had the better record.

Absolutely none of that is true. There was no “threat” to move 1984 Cubs playoff games to St. Louis (though, as you’ll see below, there was some talk about playing them in Comiskey Park or Milwaukee County Stadium).
