PITTSBURGH -- Mike Montgomery has not hidden his desire to start and on Monday, the Cubs left-hander showed what he could do.
Anthony Rizzo smacked a solo home run and a two-run single, and Addison Russell added a two-run pinch-hit homer to back Montgomery and lead the Cubs to a 7-0 victory over the Pirates at PNC Park.
Making his first start of the season and first since Oct. 1, when he went three innings against the Reds, Montgomery held the Pirates to two hits over 5 2/3 stellar innings.
