Many of us have been clamoring for the ball/strike challenge system, currently in use in some minor leagues, to be adopted for MLB games. And the league has strongly hinted it will be in effect next year.
Now, per Jesse Rogers at ESPN.com, the system will be used in next week’s All-Star Game:
MLB officials added the feature to the annual exhibition game knowing it could be a precursor to becoming a permanent part of the major leagues as soon as next year.
The same process used this past spring training will be used for the Midsummer Classic: Each team will be given two challenges with the ability to retain them if successful.
