Luke Hagerty out-threw everyone at Driveline Pro Day. The Cubs should sign him.

Last weekend I wrote about Luke Hagerty, the Cubs’ first-round pick in 2002, throwing 97-98 miles per hour at the Driveline Pro Camp, and said the Cubs should sign him to a minor-league contract.

Comments were mixed. Some said there was no risk in doing this; others said that he’s 37, never pitched above A ball, and is trying a comeback after more than a decade out of baseball.

The latter part of that is surely true, and in my view so is the first part.
