Kyle Hendricks ends Cubs’ three-game skid against the Mets, wins seventh consecutive start

NEW YORK – If there was one thing the Cubs needed besides a win going into their series finale against the Mets, it was a lengthy outing by one of their starting pitchers. During the first three games in New York, the Cubs didn’t get much length from their starters with outings of 4 1/3, 5 and 4 innings.

But in those situations, a team needs it’s best starter to step up and over the last eight week, that’s what right-hander Kyle Hendricks has been able to do. Not only did Hendricks give the Cubs a quality outing, but put the Cubs’ three-game losing streak to a stop in their 2-0 win over the Mets on Thursday.
