Jason Heyward: Cubs may have sat Thursday, had no plans to on Friday

The Cubs didn't have conversations about not playing Friday’s game against the Reds, a 6-5 loss, outfielder Jason Heyward said.

"No, not at all. There was checking in," Heyward said pregame. "[Cubs manager David Ross] called me yesterday and wanted to touch base. He wanted to let me know that, much like I felt and like we talked about after that last game, we were kind of rushed."

If the Cubs had more time on Wednesday, they might have opted to sit out their series finale against the Tigers, however.

Ten games involving 20 teams were postponed on Wednesday and Thursday as part of a social justice movement in wake of Kenosha police shooting Jacob Blake, a 29-year-old Black man.
