Another member of the Cubs has committed to play in the World Baseball Classic, as Jameson Taillon will take the mound for Team Canada, first reported by Johnny Giunta of the Gate 14 podcast. Taillon, who is entering the final year of his four-year contract with the Cubs, has accumulated 4.9 fWAR across 80 starts since joining the organization. He was 11-7 with a 3.68 ERA this past season, but only logged 129.2 innings due to calf and groin injuries.
The 34-year-old has been posting videos of his throwing routines throughout the offseason, something he’s done in previous offseasons as well.
