Jake Arrieta battles his command, two-out damage in Cubs’ 5-2 loss to the Mets

NEW YORK – Jake Arrieta has had a difficult time trying to duplicate the success he had during the first month of the season.

Arrieta showed signs of life in his last start, quieting what is one of baseball’s best offenses, but the Cubs right-hander wasn’t able to duplicate that success in Monday’s 5-2 loss to the Mets.

Arrieta had things in control over the first three innings and was able to keep the Mets lineup in check. Not only did he manage to get through the first three innings without allowing much hard contact, he didn’t allow a base hit.
