Ian Happ has done it again. For the fourth straight year, the left fielder has won the Gold Glove Award. It’s not hyperbole to say that Happ is one of the most overrated players on the Cubs’ roster. His offense can sometimes fall short in big moments, but his defensive work remains consistent.
His advanced metrics aren’t particularly impressive, with zero outs above average throughout the 2025 season. His arm value ranked in the 62nd percentile, but there were no standout aspects of his defense. His competitors for the award, Tommy Pham and Kyle Stowers, failed to impress as well, giving Happ the slight edge in the final voting.
