The Chicago Cubs' Kyle Hendricks continues to demonstrate why he should not be overlooked when it comes time to debate Cy Young Award candidates in the National League.
Hendricks tossed 7 1/3 innings of three-hit ball in the Cubs' 3-1 win over the Athletics on Sunday, allowing just one run and striking out four. Hendricks improved to 7-1 since June 19, with a 1.06 ERA over that stretch. It was the seventh time in his last nine starts Hendricks has allowed 1 or 0 earned runs.
In two starts so far this month, Hendricks has allowed just one earned run in 16 1/3 innings.
