Former Cubs manager Joe Maddon agrees to 3-year deal with the Angels

Joe Maddon is a baseball lifer who spent the vast majority of his career in the Los Angeles Angels organization before managing in Tampa Bay and Chicago.

Now, he’s returning to his roots.

Maddon and the Angels agreed to a three-year deal to make him the club’s manager, the team announced Wednesday. The move comes less than one month after Maddon and the Cubs parted ways at the end of the regular season.

In 2016, the 65-year-old led the Cubs to their first World Series title in 108 years. He spent five seasons at the helm.
