As expected, the Cubs and Tommy La Stella addressed the situation and his decision not to report to Triple-A Iowa before Tuesday’s game with the Angels.
The Cubs placed La Stella on the minor league temporarily inactive list. La Stella will continue to be paid but players placed on the temporarily inactive list do not accumulate service time.
The Cubs optioned La Stella to Triple-A Iowa on July 29. Players have 72 hours to report once they’ve been sent down to the minors. The Cubs granted La Stella more time after he initially said he would not report.
