Cubs sign No. 1 draft pick Ed Howard

About 10 days ago, during the very abbreviated 2020 MLB Draft, the Cubs selected Ed Howard, a shortstop from Mt. Carmel High School in Chicago, with their top pick, 16th overall.

Sunday, it was revealed that the Cubs had signed Howard:

Some teams have signed players for under slot value, but the Cubs have given Howard the full slot value of $3.75 million. MLB.com Cubs beat writer Jordan Bastian confirms the signing:
