The Cubs signed Joe Ross to a minor league deal on Monday, according to the team’s transaction log.
It’s been a bumpy road for Ross lately, with injuries derailing his 2022 and 2023 seasons. He underwent his second Tommy John surgery in 2022 and returned to a major league mound in 2024 with the Milwaukee Brewers.
He posted a 3.77 ERA in Milwaukee, logging 74 innings after missing another two months due to a back injury. The Philadelphia Phillies signed Ross to a one-year deal worth $4 million but released him on August 26 after he recorded an underwhelming 5.
