We waited all day Thursday for Matt Duffy, who was in St. Louis Wednesday, to be activated from the injured list. Instead we got this move made by the Cubs before Thursday’s game.
Today, Duffy was activated from the injured list, and as he was on the 60-day IL and therefore not counted as part of the 40-man roster, a move for that roster was also required. Eric Sogard was designated for assignment.
Before going down with a back injury in late May, Duffy was hitting .278/.377/.356 (25-for-90) with four doubles and a home run.
