Once the Chicago Cubs named Matthew Boyd the Game 1 starting pitcher for their National League Wild Card series against the San Diego Padres, there weren't many questions left regarding the roster the team would construct. With Game 1 on Tuesday afternoon, the Cubs have released their roster in addition to posting their starting lineup.

Given the shortened three-game series, there's no surprise that the Cubs are carrying more position players than pitchers. On the position player side of the roster, three notable omissions are catcher Miguel Amaya, veteran speedster Billy Hamilton, and rookie outfielder Owen Caissie.
