Cubs sign LHP Joe Thatcher to Minor League Contract … Set to Report to Triple-A Iowa
According to a report from Chris Cotillo, the Cubs have signed veteran left-handed reliever Joe Thatcher to a minor league contract. Thatcher will report to Triple-A Iowa.
Thatcher was with the Indians in Spring Training. After he was released in late March, Thatcher signed with the Dodgers. Thatcher appeared in 17 games with Triple-A Oklahoma. Thatcher allowed six runs on 14 hits with five walks and 21 strikeouts in 15 innings.
The Dodgers released Thatcher on June 4 and he re-signed with the Indians on a minor league contract.
