ATLANTA – Several factors beyond just returning from the 15-day injured list energized Cubs right-hander Jameson Taillon as he took the mound Wednesday.
“Game 3, rubber match of the series, pitching against [Braves starting pitcher] Chris Sale, had a chance to win a series on the road going into an off day, I was pretty excited showing up at the yard today,” Taillon said after the Cubs’ 3-2 win against the Braves Wednesday. “And just an awesome team win. Felt good to have the nerves before the game just watching the bullpen do their thing tonight was awesome, watching the guys grind out Chris Sale, who is one of the better pitchers of our time – just, all around, awesome game.
