Cubs No. 4 prospect Moises Ballesteros was playing the video game “MLB The Show” Monday night when Triple-A manager Marty Pevey called to say he was being promoted to the major leagues.
Ballesteros was going to The Show.
“My emotions were throwing the control on the ground,” he said. “I was in shock for like five minutes or 10 minutes.”
The Cubs made the move official Tuesday before the game against the Marlins, selecting Ballesteros’ contract from Triple-A and putting left fielder Ian Happ in the IL with a strained left oblique.
