The Iowa Cubs were capsized by the Columbus Clippers (Guardians), 4-2.

Starter Kenta Maeda gave up a solo home run in the first inning and a two-run shot in the second. He settled down after that, but he still got the loss. Maeda’s line was three runs on three hits over six innings. He struck out six and walked two.

Left fielder Kevin Alcántara hit a solo home run in the ninth inning, his ninth on the year and his second in two days. Alcántara went 2 for 4 with a double and the home run.
