Cubs' Kris Bryant 'progressing' but not in lineup for White Sox opener

Cubs third baseman Kris Bryant remains out of the starting lineup Friday with a left wrist/ring finger issue.

Cubs manager David Ross said they're taking things day to day with Bryant. They want to see how he feels after getting treatment Friday and if he's able to hit in the cage or on the field. It would be the first time he's taken swings since Monday's doubleheader with St. Louis.

"He’s still progressing in the right direction," Ross said.

Bryant saw a specialist this week and received an injection into his wrist, which Ross said Tuesday would require at least two days of rest.
