Cubs Injury Update: Jameson Taillon plan, Javier Assad assignment, Miguel Amaya

Jameson Taillon is working his way back from a calf injury that has had him sidelined since the beginning of July. Taillon is scheduled to throw a bullpen session on Friday, and if all goes well, he will have another bullpen session next week while the Cubs are playing the Milwaukee Brewers. Assuming no setbacks, Taillon will start a minor-league rehab assignment after next week's bullpen session.

The timeline has Taillon likely making his return to the Cubs' rotation around the middle of August. In Taillon's place, the Cubs have been going with an opener; however, after it backfired on Monday, the team may be hoping to trade for a starting pitcher before his spot is due up again.
