Cubs howling as Fowler returns in a big way

MILWAUKEE — Dexter Fowler hadn’t played in a major league game since June 18, but when he returned Friday night, it felt like he never left.

After missing more than a month with a hamstring injury, Fowler homered to lead off the game. He hit a two-run double in his second at-bat, walked in his third and singled in his fifth as the Cubs beat the Brewers, 5-2.

In his spare time, Fowler won the sausage race, ate frozen custard with Bud Selig and did the Miller Brewing Factory tour.

“I was just happy to be back around the boys,” Fowler said.
