In Jed Hoyer’s tenure as president of baseball operations, he has never before been in this position: Two months before the trade deadline, he fielded questions from reporters about how he’s going to add to the team – and he didn’t feel the need to hedge.
“Our [pitching] depth, it’s been tested,” Hoyer said this week. “And we have to assume that that’s not going to stop, that we’ll continue to be tested. And we have to continue to find depth where we can find it.
