General manager Jed Hoyer told reporters Monday zero Cubs players have come to the club to opt out of playing this season.
"To this point, we have not had anyone talk to us about opting out," Hoyer said in a Zoom session.
Players have the option to opt out of the 2020 season attempting to be played during the COVID-19 pandemic. Those placed in a "high-risk" category (with underlying risk factors for potential contraction of the coronavirus) will receive their prorated salary and service time. Those who are not may still opt out but wouldn't receive pay or service time.
