Cubs Forced to Look at Adding a Left-Handed Bat

The Cubs tried to acquire a left-handed hitting outfielder before the non-waiver trade deadline. The Cubs were very interested in Josh Reddick and were connected heavily to the former A’s outfielder up to the time Billy Beane traded him to the Dodgers.

According to multiple reports, the A’s were looking for pitching in return for Reddick. And for as much depth as there is the system, the Cubs could not meet the A’s asking price for the veteran outfielder.

The Cubs were also linked to Jay Bruce, but the Reds were less than receptive about trading him to a team within the division.
