The Cubs made two roster moves earlier this week that flew under the radar. Amidst a crushing weekend in which they were swept by the Cincinnati Reds over a four-game series, the Cubs designated Nate Pearson for assignment. Pearson appeared in 11 games for the Cubs this season, posting a 9.20 ERA in 14.2 innings.
In a corresponding move, Eli Morgan was activated from the 60-day IL. He had already been rehabbing in Iowa, but will now be on the 40-man roster in case his services are needed before the season comes to an end.
