Cubs clinch first postseason berth since 2018

After a meltdown in September last season, change was on the horizon for the Cubs.

They fired their Joe Maddon, hired David Ross to take the reins as their next manager and amid an offseason of speculation and unknowns regarding the roster, they hoped the change in direction was the shock to the system the team needed.

No one could have foreseen when Ross took the job that he would not only have to guide his newly-inherited club after two disappointing finishes, but through a global pandemic in an odd, shortened-regular season.

They’ll be no September disappointment this season as the Cubs clinched their first postseason berth since 2018 on Tuesday with the Phillies 8-7 loss to the Nationals.
