Cubs' Cade Horton's debut vs. Mets shows 'that’s why he’s here'

NEW YORK — Cubs rookie Cade Horton knew exactly what he wanted to throw to put away Mets superstar Juan Soto.

In a game the Cubs would go on to win 6-5, Horton was 3u2154 innings into his major-league debut, and he hadn’t yet thrown a changeup.

“That pitch is overlooked,” Horton said after the game. “I throw it so little on the scouting report, and he’d already seen a lot of breaking stuff. And so I just wanted to mix something in.
