The Cubs and Angels began their series at Angel Stadium on a beautiful Friday night. Chicago got a quality pitching performance and a pair of home runs from two of their most important hitters to earn a victory.
The North Siders got a much-needed development when Kyle Tucker hit a long solo homer off of Tyler Anderson to put them ahead 1-0. Seiya Suzuki added a sacrifice fly against Anderson to increase the margin to 2-0 in the 3rd inning.
Javier Assad was very sharp on Friday, going six frames and only giving up a solo shot to Yoán Moncada in the 5th inning.
