The Cubs and Blue Jays played the finale of their three-game series Thursday afternoon at Rogers Center. Chicago squandered an outstanding pitching performance and suffered another one-run defeat.
Both starting pitchers, Matthew Boyd and Max Scherzer, were rolling early and neither team produced anything in the first five innings. The North Siders grabbed the lead on a solo home run by Michael Busch in the top of the 6th.
Boyd made his only mistake in the bottom of the 7th inning when Vladimir Guerrero Jr. hit a go-ahead two-run homer to make it 2-1 Blue Jays.
