The Cubs and the Blue Jays opened up their series in front of a big crowd at Rogers Center Tuesday night. Chicago failed with runners in scoring position for a second consecutive game and suffered another loss.
Javier Assad made his season debut and surrendered a 1st inning run on an RBI single by catcher Alejandro Kirk. The North Siders loaded the bases in the top of the 3rd but starter José Berríos escaped the jam to keep Toronto on top 1-0.
The Blue Jays got the big blow against the Assad in the bottom of the 4th when Ernie Clement hit a three-run homer to put the home team ahead 4-0.
