Chicago Cubs Score and Recap (7/28/25): Brewers 8, Cubs 4 – Boyd Wild in Loss

The Cubs and Brewers began their big series at American Family Field Monday night. Chicago surrendered an early lead and would go on to lose, but it became secondary after word of Hall of Famer Ryne Sandberg‘s passing came during the game.

The North Siders loaded the bases against Milwaukee phenom Jacob Misiorowski with nobody out in the top of the 1st inning. A wild pitch and a throwing error by Misiorowski on an Ian Happ infield single gave the road team a 3-0 advantage.

Matthew Boyd was fighting control issues from the start on Monday and the Brewers finally made him pay for it in the bottom of the 3rd with four runs to move on top.
