The Cubs took on the best team in baseball when they faced off against the Tigers at Comerica Park Friday night. It was a low-scoring affair but in the end, Chicago could not break through against the defending Cy Young winner and lost the opener.
Both starting pitchers, Ben Brown and Tarik Skubal, were very sharp and neither team scored in the first four frames. Detroit took the lead on an RBI single by Gleyber Torres in the bottom of the 5th inning.
The North Siders evened things up in the top of the 6th on a pair of doubles by Matt Shaw and Kyle Tucker.
