With the defending World Series champions down by two runs in the top half of the ninth, Chicago Cubs closer Hector Rondon took the mound to reliever right-handed ace, Jake Arrieta.
After taking the first three games from the Giants, Rondon was able to strike out three consecutive batters shortly after loading up the bases with no outs to complete the four-game sweep by the final score of 2-0 at Wrigley Field. Talk about chest pains for days – that was a close one.
Today’s win pushes the Cubs (62-48) to 3.
