The Iowa Cubs got steel drummed by the Nashville Sounds (Brewers), 7-4.
Starter Nick Neidert lasted just 2.2 innings, allowing three runs on eight hits, including a two-run home run. Neidert walked one and struck out two.
The loss, however, went to Vinny Nittoli. Nittoli pitched a scoreless seventh inning, but allowed the first two batters of the eighth to reach and then he was relieved by Manuel Rodríguez. Rodríguez not only allowed those two inherited runners to score, he gave up a run of his own. Nittoli’s final line was two runs on two hits over 1+ innings.
