Chicago Cubs Minor League Wrap: May 11

Sweep!

Duane Underwood Jr. pitched 6.2 innings without allowing a run. He gave up just three hits. Underwood walked three and struck out three.

The I-Cubs had a 5-0 lead going into the bottom of the ninth when Dillon Maples took the mound. Maples walked four of the five batters he faced, only getting one batter out on a soft liner. Shea Simmons was then summoned to get the save, and the first batter Simmons faced hit a two-run single to make if 5-3. After Simmons struck out the next batter, he walked Terrance Gore to load the bases and put the winning run on first base before inducing Billy Burns to hit a soft grounder to end the game and give Simmons his second save.
