The Tennessee Smokies overthrew the Birmingham Barons (White Sox), 7-1.
Cory Abbott turned in a very good start and got his first win of the year. Abbott allowed just one run on eight hits over 5.2 innings. Abbott struck out eight and walked just one.
Third baseman Clayton Daniel made his season debut a great one, going 3 for 4 with one run scored and one RBI.
DH Ian Rice was 2 for 4 with an RBI double that capped off a four-run third inning.
