Javier Baez didn't make the Chicago Cubs' Opening Day roster, but the 22-year-old is proving he could be ready for a call-up soon with his recent play in Iowa.
Baez's talents can be seen tonight on Comcast SportsNet as the Iowa Cubs square off against the El Paso Chihuahuas. It's the first of 15 minor-league games we'll be showing over the course of the summer, with Dave Armstrong, Keith Moreland and Brian McRae on the call.
In 28 games Baez hit .284 with five home runs, 18 RBIs and six stolen bases for the 24-24 Iowa Cubs, who sit nine games back in the PCL American Northern standings behind the Oklahoma City Dodgers.
