The Cubs announced Wednesday that Caleb Killian has been activated from the 60-day IL and optioned to Triple-A Iowa, where he’s been rehabbing for the last three weeks. Killian suffered a teres major strain during spring training and was out of action through June, but he’s now made eight appearances between Iowa and High-A South Bend. Though all of those outings have come in relief, he went three innings this past Sunday and should continue to stretch out.
Because they cleared a little space during what ended up being a really underwhelming trade deadline push, the Cubs still have a spot on the 40-man even after Killian’s activation.
