MIAMI – A day after the Cubs beat up on the Marlins 11-1, Miami shutdown a volatile Chicago offense and took game two of a four-game set 2-0.
“The difference 24 hours can make,” manager Joe Maddon said in his office after the game.
Let’s take a look at some of the numbers from Friday night’s loss in Miami.
12.2 percent: The Cubs managed six hits and drew four walks, but seven of those baserunners came with two outs and the other three were erased via the double play.
“Double plays continued to hurt us,” Maddon said.
