KANSAS CITY -- David Bote and Mike Montgomery are making the most of their opportunities.
Bote smacked a two-run triple and an RBI single for a career-high three RBIs to back Montgomery and power the Cubs to a 5-0 Interleague victory over the Royals on Tuesday night at Kauffman Stadium.
Montgomery, who began the season in the bullpen, made his 13th start in place of the injured Yu Darvish. The left-hander threw six-plus scoreless innings, scattering five hits. He went out for the seventh, but he served up a leadoff single to Adalberto Mondesi and was lifted.
