Bote crushes first MLB homer 440 feet

CHICAGO -- David Bote created his own holiday celebration in the second inning on Wednesday at Wrigley Field.

Bote, an infielder called up from Triple-A Iowa to help the Cubs while Kris Bryant is sidelined, smacked his first career Major League home run with two outs in the second inning on Wednesday to tie the game against the Tigers. Bote launched the first pitch he saw from Tigers starter Francisco Liriano 440 feet to straightaway center and into the juniper bushes in the batter's eye. According to Statcast™, the ball had an exit velocity of 109 mph.
