The Cubs have activated Ben Zobrist from the restricted list, getting him back in time to make him eligible for the postseason roster. In order to make room on the 40-man roster, Mark Zagunis has been designated for assignment. And in order to make room on the 25-man roster, David Bote has been optioned to Triple-A Iowa.

That’s a tough break for Bote, who will now have to remain down for 10 days, but he’ll get playing time with the I-Cubs playing through the weekend before opening the Pacific Coast League playoffs.
